The Blindspot of Compassion – A Case for Vegan Living | Donny Makower | TEDxUVA

“The Blindspot of Compassion: A Case for Vegan Living” is an approachable discussion on animal ethics and the ongoing exploitation of animals. Most people love animals, but their day-to-day behavior often runs counter to that sentiment. Having spent the vast majority of his life using and consuming animal-based products, Donny Makower addresses some of the most common objections to a vegan lifestyle, and brings a unique perspective that is simultaneously thought-provoking and non-judgmental. Donny is a business leader and marketing veteran who realigned his personal and professional endeavors around plant-based living. He is currently the CEO & Co-Founder of RDCL Superfoods, an innovative brand that makes plant-based superfood products. Donny is also a passionate public speaker and the Chairman of the Board of the Gentle Barn, a national nonprofit organization specializing in the rehabilitation of abused and neglected animals. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
