The BEST Vegan Brisket | Your Spicy Vegans

WET INGREDIENTS:(reserve 1/2 for roasting liquid):
1 cup marsala wine
1/4 cup tamari or soy sauce
1/4 cup pure maple syrup
2 tbsp sriracha
3-1/2 cups low sodium veggie stock or broth
1/4 cup tomato paste (1 small can)
3-4 tbsp olive oil

** Wisk the wet ingredients well

DRY INGREDIENTS:
** Mix in a separate bowl
2-1/4 cups vital wheat gluten
3/4 cup chickpea flour
2 tbsp chili powder
2 tbsp paprika
2 tsp cumin
2 tbsp onion powder
2 tbsp garlic powder
1 tbsp pink salt

VEGGIES:
1 large sliced sweet onion
3-4 chopped carrots
10-12 tiny potatoes (we forgot to add them lol)

BROWNING SAUCE:
1 cup water
1 cup organic brown sugar
4 tbsp organic “Better Than Bouillon” Seasoned Vegetable Base (It’s a paste)
6 dashes vegan Worcestershire sauce 
1-1/4 cups water
To Make: in a pan over medium-low heat, whisk 1 cup water and sugar until dissolved. Add & whisk veggie base. Slowly add 1-1/4 cups water in small amount and whisk together. Reduce heat to simmer until it thickens a little (3-5 mins)

DIRECTIONS:
1 – Thoroughly coat a baking pan with olive oil. Preheat oven to 375 F
2 – Add 1/2 wet mixture to dry mixture and combine. Knead for 5 mins until dough is elastic
3 – Form into brisket shape and put in baking dish. Coat with more oil.
4 – Add remainder of wet ingredients over and around brisket
5 – Roast 25 mins, uncovered
6 – Flip, baste with pan juices and roast for another 25 mins
7 – rest in refrigerator for 10 minutes 
8 – cover top with onions, spread carrots & potatoes around edges
9 – Pour all browning sauce over brisket & veggies
10 – cover (with pan lid or aluminum foil), roast for 25 mins
11 – Uncover, stir around veggies, baste brisket & roast for an additional 10 minutes (or until veggies are soft with brown edges)
