QUESTION + ANSWER
Q: ‘I don’t want this to sound rude because I really enjoy your content but you often talk about environmental issues like reducing plastic and similar things yet you do monthly boxes like this regularly on your channel, isn’t that also really bad and maybe even wasteful? People are receiving things that they might not like and not use and all the packaging of those items adds up.
Again, I am not hating, just a little bit confused and would like to know your opinion on this :)’

A: ‘Hello!! You’re not being rude at all, thanks so much for the comment ♥️. And I completely get your point – it’s actually something I’ve been thinking about a lot recently because I’ve been clearing out my makeup collection over the past few days.

To be honest, being part of the blogging community in itself is a huge contradiction, as it’s pretty wasteful by nature [being sent new launches or certain products that may not work for me at all, for instance, although I pass on things to friends that don’t work for me]. This hypocrisy is something I mentioned in my Vegan Christmas Gift Guide for 2017 – I mentioned in that vid that I’m constantly conflicted when recommending products because it’s encouraging consumption. BUT I have to remind myself that the purpose of my channel is to share the amazing cruelty-free and vegan substitutes to conventional makeup or services that are out there. Things that are just as good quality as more mainstream products that are tested on animals 🐇 I see these box vids as a way to show people that alternatives to Glossy Box / Ipsy / Boxy Charm etc. exist. If I find a box doesn’t work for me of course I’ll stop the subscriptions (like I’m thinking about cancelling Petit Vour because I’m not overly enamoured with it).

BUT that said, I just have a huge love for makeup and I genuinely enjoy subscription services because they introduce me to amazing products I wouldn’t have otherwise tried. Like the BB Powder from this month’s box and the Laritzy eyeshadow palette are now part of my everyday makeup bag. I love discovering new cruelty free brands I can look into. It’s a selfish passion, I know :-/ But like I say, this channel was first created so that I could track my CF journey, and then I learned more about the how unsustainable fast fashion is, and about single use plastic and it has slowly evolved to focus on a broader range of issues.

Sorry for suuuuch a long reply but basically, I completely agree with you and can understand confusion but this channel’s main aim is to discourage funding animal testing by showing alternatives 🙂 Hope that helps xxx’.
