Blackbird Foods Launches Equity Crowdfunding Campaign to Take Company to “Next Level” – vegconomist

Blackbird Foods, a New York City-based plant-based food manufacturer, has announced the initiation of a new equity crowdfunding campaign via StartEngine.

The company, currently valued at $15 million, has established itself in the market with a wide distribution across national retailers such as Sprouts, Whole Foods, and Target.

“Now, we have an incredible opportunity to take Blackbird to the next level”

Established in 2020, Blackbird Foods has been consistently developing new products and expanding its retail footprint in the United States. The company began with plant-based seitan for foodservice in NYC, and moved into hand-tossed frozen pizzas and plant-based wings.

Blackbird Foods reported a 60% increase in sales from 2022 to 2023, which it attributes to its ability to rapidly innovate and respond to consumer demands due to its self-manufacturing capabilities in New York City. This year, in response to consumer interest in cheeseless pizza options, the company introduced a new Tomato Veggie Pizza without cheese, sold exclusively at Sprouts. Additionally, Blackbird updated its Pepperoni Pizza offering by incorporating Beyond Meat products.

Expansion plans and long-term vision

Looking forward, Blackbird plans to expand its product line with two new wing varieties later this year. In an interview with vegconomist, the company’s CEO, Emanuel Storch, commented on the long-term vision of the company, stating, “We really see Blackbird staying at the forefront of the movement to bring delicious, high-quality plant-based comfort foods into the mainstream.”

Storch notes the company’s commitment to progress further, prompting the decision to initiate an equity crowdfunding campaign. He comments, “We believe that Blackbird Foods has emerged as a fast-growing pizza brand. Now, we have an incredible opportunity to take Blackbird to the next level. With your support, I believe we can make it happen.”

Investment opportunities in Blackbird Foods start at $249, with additional bonuses for early investors available through the StartEngine platform.
